Frequently asked questions
What hoteliers ask us before they start
Grouped by subject, and answered straight. If your question is not here, it deserves a real answer: write to us.
On running the hotel
Does day-use cannibalise my nights?
No, and that is structural: the slot ends before the evening arrival time. A room sold by the day is still sellable for the night. You can also close day-use on the dates you are full.
Does it add housekeeping?
A pass, not a full turnaround: the room was already made up for the evening, and a daytime guest occupies it for a few hours. You choose the end time of the slot so your team has the time it needs.
How many rooms should I open?
As many as you like. Many start with two or three to take the measure of it, then increase. The number changes in a second from your own space.
Can I open on certain days only?
Yes. You choose the days of the week your offer sells on. Many hotels open on weekdays only, when business guests leave rooms free.
What if I am full on a given day?
You close the date. And the on-request mode lets you approve each booking before accepting it: there is no blocked allotment, so no risk of selling a room you no longer have.
On the guests
Who books a room during the day?
Four very different profiles: local city guests coming for the spa or the quiet, professionals travelling, travellers in transit between two flights or two trains, and couples looking for a break.
Do these guests come back?
Yes, and it is the most underestimated point: today's daytime guest is tomorrow's overnight guest. A good daytime experience brings them back for a full stay.
How do my guests find me?
Your listing is distributed on roomforday.com and on our destination pages, translated into five languages. You do neither the translation nor the search work.
Frequently asked questions
No question is too simple. The ones people dare not ask are the ones that make them give up.
On money
Who takes the guest's payment?
You do. Payment happens at your hotel, with your usual payment methods. We do not stand between your guest and you, and the cash arrives straight away.
When do you charge the commission?
Afterwards, on stays actually sold. No payment method is asked of you at sign-up: the question comes up at the first invoice, so after your first sale.
What is the commission rate?
It is given to you at sign-up, before any commitment, and it appears in the terms you accept. What is settled right now: it applies only to stays actually sold, and nothing else is billed to you.
What if a guest does not show up?
No-shows are covered by a bank guarantee taken at booking. A stay that did not happen and that you did not get paid for generates nothing.
On commitment
Is there an exclusivity?
None. Your other channels stay yours, and you can sell day-use elsewhere if you want to.
Can I stop whenever I want?
Yes. You withdraw your offer whenever you want and you owe only the commission on stays already sold. No exit fee, no notice period.
How long does signing up take?
Five minutes on your side. We then read every offer before publishing it, which stops an incomplete listing going out under your name, and it is live the same day.
Your question is not here?
It deserves a real answer rather than a form. Write to us, someone will reply.
